Construction

Following approval of the Final Business Case by the City of Edinburgh Council and the Scottish Government in late 2007, work to move all of the underground cables and pipes in preparation for the construction of the tram track itself has begun. Construction of the tram lines, laying track and erecting overhead wires etc. will start thereafter.

All organisations involved in the tram project are working together to ensure they minimise disruption to residents, businesses, visitors and traffic during the project. Work is governed by a Code of Construction Practice.
tie is working closely with City of Edinburgh Council to implement traffic management arrangements to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible, whilst at all times safeguarding pedestrians, contractors and motorists.

Up-to-date information on works is available from this website in the Construction Update section.
